Timberline is located on Mt Hood in Oregon and seems to be the only authentic year-round ski area in North America due to the long-lasting snow fields and numerous ski and board summer camps. Even in August, Timberline often has better quality snow than most areas in late spring, due in large measure to their daily grooming and altitude. Lodging at Timberline Lodge is at 6,000 feet and you may remember the exterior from the opening sequence of "The Shining". Timberline closes for two weeks after Labor Day. Elevation: 6,000 to 8,540 feet. ** New for 2007-2008 season: Still Creek Basin high speed quad, just west of Pucci.
